EPCIS is the GS1 and ISO standard for recording supply-chain events — the transactional evidence behind every custody transfer, transformation, and shipment. Version 2.0 is JSON-LD native with a normative ontology, which makes it a natural evidence-object format for dVeracity's verification layer.

Event Model

Five event types capture the full lifecycle of goods, each answering what, where, when, and why.

ObjectEvent

Observation of objects: commissioning, shipping, receiving — the workhorse event for custody and location changes.

TransformationEvent

Inputs consumed, outputs produced. The event type that carries manufacturing steps — and the natural anchor for attaching PCF data to production.

AggregationEvent

Packing and unpacking hierarchies: items to cases, cases to pallets, pallets to containers.

TransactionEvent + AssociationEvent

Links events to business transactions (POs, invoices) and physical assets (sensors on reusable containers).

Core Business Vocabulary

CBV 2.0.0 standardizes the why: business steps, dispositions, and source/destination semantics shared across all events.
