WBCSD PACT

PACT defines how product carbon footprints travel between companies: a common PCF data model, a standardized exchange API, and the methodology behind the numbers. The Open Footprint Product Life Cycle domain aligns to PACT, and dVeracity exchanges PCF data through the PACT network.

ImplementedTech Specs v3.0.3

PACT is the reporting edge of the hub-and-spoke architecture: activity data recorded in Open Footprint flows through calculation into E-Ledger entries, and leaves the platform as PACT-conformant PCFs. Catena-X's automotive PCF model (pcf 9.0.0) tracks PACT v3, so this one edge covers both networks.

What v3 Changes

Version 3 is a breaking change from v2 — conformant solutions must speak v3 since April 2026.

Immutable PCFs

Breaking

A footprint is never edited in place: any change creates a new footprint with a new ID linked via precedingPfIds. Status is reduced to Active or Deprecated.

Redesigned Query API

Breaking

OData $filter expressions replaced by discrete, predictable query parameters for listing and filtering footprints.

CloudEvents Async Exchange

RequestCreated, RequestFulfilled, RequestRejected, and Published events standardize asynchronous PCF exchange; sync and async must return identical data.

Methodology v3.0 Coverage

Adds land-sector emissions and removals, refined electricity accounting, carbon capture and storage/utilization, and services.
